Min Florence --

My name is Master Sgt. William Gibson -- "Spanky" to most people -- and I'm writing to say thanks.

In Iraq, the support provided by the USO reminded me that folks at home had my back. I can't describe how important that was to me.

When you're far away from your family, the holidays can be tough. It's just as hard when you're recovering from wounds suffered during a deployment. I know...I've been there.

I hope you'll take a look at this message and give something today.

Click here to support our troops by giving a gift through the USO Wishbook before the December 6 deadline.

And remember, when you shop the USO Wishbook, you'll get a card for a loved one about the special gift you sent on their behalf to our troops. It's a great way to say thank you to those serving and I can tell you from experience, they appreciate it.

Thanks for all you do.

Min Florence --

Our brave troops don't run from danger. They run toward it.

When Typhoon Haiyan rocked the Philippines, devastating families and wreaking havoc, thousands of American troops rushed to help -- putting themselves at risk to support one of our neighbors.

This is what our troops do. Whenever the call comes, morning, noon or night, our heroic troops go.

They always go.

Since so many people take it for granted, I wanted to ask patriotic Americans like you to join me in thanking our brave troops for their service. They must always know how proud we are of our men and women in uniform, and it's up to us to make sure they do.

Thank the heroes who leave in a moment's notice, every time -- to protect us and help the world.

We all know what our brave heroes do to protect our country. But American troops go above and beyond -- they are among the first on the scene to support humanitarian efforts after disaster strikes -- such as the Japan tsunami, the Haiti earthquake and Superstorm Sandy.

Our troops will do all they can to help the people of the Philippines. It's who they are. In ways big and small, they're there to help. And they need to know that whatever they face in the days and weeks ahead, patriotic Americans support them and are thinking of them.

Let's make sure our brave heroes know how eternally grateful we are for all they do.

Thank you,

Alan Reyes
Senior Vice President, Operations, USO

When the USO asks our troop's which of our services are most important to them, their answer is always the same: "Take good care of our wounded buddies."

Our new USO Warrior and Family Center in Bethesda, Md. is one way we're making good on our promise. But we need to raise $250,000 before Veterans Day to stock and operate the center.

The center is a safe haven for wounded, ill and injured troops on the long journey to recovery. It's where we can give something back.

Help us keep the commitment we've made to the troops who have fought to protect our freedoms. It's our shared responsibility.

Click here to donate $10 or more now -- in the next week -- to finish getting the USO's Warrior and Family Center ready for our wounded, ill and injured troops.

Last week, General Myers defined your mission. He urged you to step forward and help stock our under-construction USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda, Md. with the items our troops and their families need. This center will make possible some of those special moments our wounded, ill and injured troops and are missing out on with their families while recovering -- moments like a family dinner or watching the big game with friends -- that we take for granted.

Help us reach our ambitious goal of raising $250,000 for this special project by Veterans Day. Donate $10 or more to help stock the new USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda, Md.

Now is the time to act and make sure our wounded troops and their families have all the support they need.

Sincerely,

Kelli Seely, USO
Senior Vice President, Chief Development Officer, USO

Min Florence --

I've got an urgent mission for you. It's one we have to complete by Veterans Day.

Construction is well underway on the brand new USO Warrior and Family Center at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. But this 16,000 square foot center won't be ready to serve our troops and families at Walter Reed until you help with a critical task.

The building is almost up. If we can raise $250,000 in the next ten days, we'll have the resources we need to begin the center's daily operations and stock it with the supplies, furnishings, and equipment that will bring it to life.

Donate now to help stock and operate the USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda, Md. You can create special moments to help our military heroes heal.

Why the Veterans Day deadline? Because veterans tell us there is no better way to honor their service than by helping wounded troops accelerate the healing that has already begun.

Together, we can create some very special moments in the lives of servicemen and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. But we have to act fast.

If the experience at our first-ever USO Warrior and Family Care Center at Fort Belvoir is any guide, the center at Bethesda will serve thousands of visitors every month, and troops and their families will continue to come to this Center in the years ahead as they continue their long recovery.

Donate $10 or more to help stock the new USO Warrior and Family Center at Bethesda, Md. We must reach our $250,000 goal before Veterans Day ends.

You have done so much for our troops. Now, I hope you will help us complete this critically important mission.

Thanks for all you do,
General Richard B. Myers, USAF (Ret.)
Chairman of the Board, USO

P.S. Remember, it's going to take your help to make our new center a place where our wounded, ill and injured troops can find crucial support as they begin to heal. Please donate now.

Last week, Alan Reyes launched a mission to help fully fund the USO's Christmas Convoy. This project goes all over the world to reach our most remote and hard-to-reach troops to bring them a much-needed – and well-deserved -- touch of home.

We need $150,000 for this critical project and with just four days left before the October 18 deadline, we need supporters like you to step up and help make sure we have the resources needed to bring the holidays to our troops serving around the world.

Click here to make your gift right away and help fund the USO's Christmas Convoy.

The USO's Christmas Convoy is a really special campaign and a one-of-a-kind way to honor the service of our troops.

I know you've been there for our servicemen and women all year and I know they are counting on you in this moment too.

HELP FUND THE CHRISTMAS CONVOY

USO Supporter --

We've got a critical mission to take on right now: Funding the USO's Christmas Convoy.

This holiday convoy goes to the most remote and hard-to-reach forward operating bases to provide our troops with special packages, free phone/video calls home and everything else they need as they serve far from their loved ones this holiday season.

But the logistics and preparation of such a massive undertaking is not easy. And we urgently need your help. To get the job done -- and reach our troops in these remote locations -- we need to raise $150,000 by Oct‌ober 18.

Please click here to help fund the Christmas Convoy and other critical holiday initiatives that reach our troops all around the world -- especially those serving in remote, forward operating bases.

I've seen firsthand just how hard it is for these brave men and women serving miles from home during the holidays. That's why the Christmas Convoy is so critical.

It's the centerpiece of our ambitious effort to bring a touch of holiday happiness to more troops than ever. And it's one of the best ways that you can let our troops know that you honor their service.

Some early holiday thoughtfulness from you can really make a big difference in helping create wonderful memories for our troops and their families.

Make your gift today to help raise $150,000 before the October 18 deadline and bring a touch of the holidays to our troops.

Thanks for everything you do for our troops all year long. And thanks for taking on this critical mission today and helping make this happen.

Min Florence --

I can tell you firsthand that your support and dedication to our troops and their families means the world to them.

Every time you step up and let them know they are cared for and supported, you and the USO make a real and concrete difference for these brave men and women and, just as importantly, for their families.

To see what I mean, I hope you'll take a moment and watch this short and powerful video about a father of a fallen hero. It's really an amazing story that you've got to see.

Click here to watch a short video about a father who lost his son, and see the difference you and the USO are making in his life.

Thanks again for all of your support. It means so much to me and everyone here at the USO. And I know it means even more to our troops and their families.

For our troops,
Sloan Gibson

Kristi Hinson and her two daughters waited patiently at the foot of a baggage claim escalator last month at San Antonio International Airport.   Chief Warrant Officer Scott Hinson was scheduled to arrive any minute on mid-tour leave from Afghanistan. They were celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary.    An unfamiliar woman in a pink sweatsuit approached Kristi and handed her a long-stem rose. "Happy anniversary," the woman said. Then came a stranger in a business suit. He, too, was bearing a rose.   They came one after another until Kristi held 19 long-stem roses. Manning Connects With Troops

Peyton Manning has completed a lot of passes in his long NFL career, but likely few will be as memorable as those he completed in February and March, well after the season ended.
Manning found receivers running open on the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis and in a crowd at Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan.
The quarterback was one of several celebrity guests on a recent USO tour led by Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. James A. Winnefeld Jr. The entourage -- which included NFL stars Vincent Jackson and Austin Collie, Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders, former baseball player Curt Schilling, and “American Idol” stars Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo -- began with a visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland and then traveled to visit troops in Spain, Italy, Djibouti and Germany, as well as stops in Afghanistan and aboard the Stennis.
Manning chronicled his experience with a journal that was posted on espn.com. He ended with this: "Proud to have been a part of it. Think ol’ Bob Hope would have been proud as well. God bless our troops."   read more...
